I read about a small news today and some "scratch and win" company had been ordered to refund RM6000 to a guy after the guy failed to received the prize he is promised.
A few things came into my mind:
1. This guy is does not read news or he is greedy or he is just plain stupid;
2. This is not the first case somebody is being cheated, and how come such company still exist legally?
3. The story of myself being the "victim".
Few months back, I was walking along Bukit Jalil temporary bus terminal when a young girl (girl) approach me. The conversation was actually in Mandarin, below is the translation of our conversation.
Girl: Sir sir... Do you go to Midvalley? I have some discount with some shops.
Me: (When I saw what she was holding, I knew she was from those scratch and win company. I was rather free that time, so I just play along) Yes?
Girl: Sir, help me earn some money lah. If you peel open inside got things, then you can have discount. If you see a word "Thank You" like the sample here, then you did not win anything.
Me: Ok. (So I took one and peel it off)
Girl: Oh, it's a "Thank You", so you did not win anything. But wait, there is another price. You see, there is some color here. Red means bla bla bla... blue is bla bla bla... (She purposely missed the last grey color out).
Me: oh... hmm..
Girl: Lets see what is your colour. Oh, yours is... wah wah wah... grey colour! Sir sir.. You know what is this... wah wah wahh...
Suddenly another young boy (boy) came into the conversation.
Boy: Wah wah wah...
Girl: You see you see...
Boy: Wah wah wah...
Both of the look super excited, and they made me excited too, because I know things are getting interesting here.
Boy: Sir sir.. Congratulation... wah... You know what you won?
Girl: Sir... You very lucky ler.. wah... You see, grey colour.. wah wah wah...
Me: Yakah? Before you tell me anything, do you know what is "Gua Gua Le" (Gua Gua Le = 刮刮乐, means Scratch and Win)?
Girl: No sir no sir... This is not fake one...
Boy: You see you see... This one cannot scratch one (and he really scratching the card to show me).
Me: I know this cannot scratch. Because this is not "Gua Gua Le" mah... This is "Pa Pa Le" (Pa Pa Le = 拔拔乐, to me, it means Peel and Win).
Then both of them start to look blank.
Me: I can bet with you, if you peel one more, I guarantee is the same thing.
Girl: Ah... I no more liao...
Boy: I also no more liao...
Me: Nah... See you cannot prove it. Since you so happy about it, I give it back to you, you go claim prize ya...
After that, I walked off and left both of them disappointed. Haha.. Me so bad...
